Engineering

We strive for new and better ways to get the job done. We take your project from design and manufacturing, through permitting and installation, utilizing our professional team of project managers. We start every job with a plan for completing the project on time and on budget.

Using CAD (Computer Aided Design) technology, our engineers precision-design your awnings and canopies to ensure compliance with all structural requirements. Our experienced staff handles every aspect of your project from frame design to construction and permits, assuring that your project meets the most exacting standards.

Durability

All awning fabrics have good abrasion resistance and will typically last between five to fifteen years, depending on fabric type, climate, and proper fabric care.

There are many excellent fabrics suitable for awnings - in a variety of colors and patterns. A Rainier sales representative will work with you to select a fabric appropriate for your awnings.

Warranties

All fabrics are warranted by the fabric manufacturer, not directly by Rainier. Fabric warranties generally cover colorfastness, rot and mildew. Rainier will supply copies of fabric warranties upon request.

Fabric

Solution-dyed acrylic

Solution-dyed acrylic is a woven fabric that was introduced for awnings in the early 1960s. Acrylic is a generic name for mixtures of at least 85 percent of acrylonitrile. The other 15 percent consists of various additives, such as chemicals that provide UV resistance. A soft yet vibrant fabric, acrylic offers the aesthetics of cotton but is resistant to UV light, mildew and water. The loose weave makes it highly breathable, so hot air and moisture will not be trapped. Rainier proudly uses Sunbrella® fabrics.

Vinyl-coated polyester

Primarily used for illuminated awnings, its translucence depends on its color. Vinyl-coated polyester is resistant to UV light, mildew and water; it cleans easily and is flame retardant.

Vinyl-laminated polyester

These standard fabrics include opaque and translucent materials which are translucent depending on their color. Vinyl-laminated polyesters are resistant to UV light, mildew and water and are actually recommended for use in areas of sustained high humidity. They are easy to clean and flame retardant.

Acrylic-coated polyester

Coated with acrylic rather than vinyl, this fabric is translucent depending on its color and is resistant to UV light, mildew and water. The weight is 9.5 to 12.5 ounces per square yard.
Vinyl-Coated Polyester Cotton

These are traditional awning fabrics. Because of their cotton base, these opaque fabrics are not recommended for use in areas of constant high humidity, although they are somewhat resistant to UV light, mildew and water.

Illumination

Illuminated awnings give you security 24 hours a day. Your storefront is lit up at night, helping your customers find their way and discouraging thieves after you close. Lighting highlights an awning at night and neon can provide additional effects. We also provide channel letters or other illuminated signs to promote your business.

Rainier Industries is a licensed specialty electrical contractor and an Underwriters Laboratories-Approved Vendor. UL teams with Rainier to assure the electrical components of our products are properly assembled. It certifies compliance through regular inspection of our manufacturing process. We are licensed as specialty sign contractors.

Permitting & Installation

Many companies can fabricate awnings - but can they actually finish the job and install it on time and to the most exacting specifications? Challenging installations, inside or outdoors, are our specialty.

We hire only installers with the best qualifications; then, we train them to deliver excellent installations to our customers.

Our choice of an anchoring system for your awning or canopy will depend on the construction of your building. Whether it is brick, wood, concrete, steel, or another material, Rainier will determine the best method for attachments.

Call Rainier when you need to have your job done right. We guarantee your satisfaction.

Approximately 70% of our customers need to acquire permits to install their awnings or canopies. Rainier makes this process easy for you. We'll put together the field survey, site plan, and descriptions of attachments, framing, and graphics to satisfy municipal community development or land use requirements.

We've been in business for over 100 years, so we know what's required and who we need to see to make sure your business awnings will stand up to the scrutiny of public officials.
